We advise you to apply for a visa approximately 1 month in advance, but not earlier than 3 months. Usually, a visa is issued for a period of 3 months. However, for some types of Chinese visas, their validity can be from 1 month to 1 year; in this case, it would be advisable to apply 2 weeks before your trip.

Check whether you require a visa to enter China. French or Taiwanese passport holders have to lodge the documents to the Chinese visa centre in person.
