    COVID-19 Update

      COVID-19 Update for Australia

Foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Australia. This policy does not apply to lawful residents and their immediate family members, persons travelling from New Zealand who normally reside in Australia, persons travelling from New Zealand aboard special “Green Safe Travel Zone” flights, transit passengers who will remain within Australian jurisdiction for less than 72 hours, diplomats accredited to Australia and their family members, airline crew members, maritime crew members including marine pilots, persons travelling as part of the “Seasonal Worker Program” or the “Pacific Labour Scheme,” or persons who hold a “Business Innovation and Investment” visa. Additional exemptions are possible on a case-by-case basis. Travellers must apply online for an exemption at least 2 weeks prior to their intended departure. Applications for exemption from Australian travel restrictions are available at the following URL: https://travel-exemptions.homeaffairs.gov.au/tep .

All persons (including Australian nationals) must, prior to boarding flights bound for Australia, present proof of a negative result for COVID-19 issued no more than 72 hours prior to departure using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. This policy does not apply to children 4 years of age or younger, or to persons travelling from New Zealand aboard special “Green Safe Travel Zone” flights, provided such persons have not visited Auckland within 14 days of their scheduled departure for Australia. Additional exemptions exist for international aircrew members, and persons arriving from locations where the Australian government has determined PCR testing is not readily available. Upon arrival, all persons must undergo a 14-day quarantine in a designated facility in their port of entry. This policy does not apply to persons travelling from New Zealand aboard special “Green Safe Travel Zone” flights provided they meet specific criteria, including having remained entirely within New Zealand during the 14 days prior to their scheduled departure (excluding any time spent in quarantine in New Zealand).
