• Business visa to Japan

    A single or multiple-entry business visa to Japan is granted for individuals travelling to Japan for business purposes such as business talks, contract signing, after-sales service for machinery imported into Japan, etc.

    To apply for a multiple-entry visa, an applicant should meet the following requirements:

    They are a passport holder of a one of countries from Near Middle East, Asia Pacific, East Central Africa, Europe and Latin America and have been holding a top-management position for a period of at least 1 year in a company, profile of which suites to one of the criteria below:

    • A public listed enterprise (on the Stock Exchange of Singapore, Japan or another country);
    • A national (state-owned) enterprise;
    • A joint venture with a public listed enterprise in Japan;
    • A company that has frequent trading with a public listed enterprise in Japan;
    • A company that is a member of the local Japanese Chamber of Commerce with an operational base or contact address in Japan.

    Spouses or children of applicants who meet the criteria above are eligible to apply for a multiple-entry visa to Japan as well.

    A business visa to Japan usually is issued for a period from 1 to 5 years. The validity of the visa granted will depend on the applicant’s nationality, type of passport, the purpose of visit and travel history.

    Processing update

    We can only accept applications from travellers whose departure date is at least 35 days (5 weeks) from the date of submission.

    Applicants must agree to provide photocopies of pages showing Japanese entry and exit stamps after their trip as a part of the embassy’s verification process. Please note that failure to provide the required entry and exit stamp records may lead to future processing or immigration issues with the Japanese Embassy.

    According to the rules of the Japanese embassy, travellers are expected to travel on their indicated dates, unless a valid medical or humanitarian reason is provided.

    Checking of Documents: $38:

    Booking of Appointment: $28:

    Securing the earliest possible appointment at the Japan Visa Application Centre can be a challenge due to high demand and limited availability. Our team works diligently to monitor the VFS website in real time, ensuring that we book the earliest available slot for your submission. By leveraging our expertise and dedicated staff, we maximize your chances of securing a timely appointment, helping to speed up the entire visa application process.

    The submission process at the Japan Visa Application Centre can feel overwhelming, especially with the long queues and the need for precise handling of your documents. Our dedicated Visa Coordinator will personally accompany you to the JVAC, ensuring that your application is submitted correctly and without any last-minute stress. From document verification to ensuring your submission is complete, we provide the reassurance and support you need, offering peace of mind throughout the entire process.

    Required documents for a business visa to Japan

    • Arrange your documents in the order according to the checklist.
    • All documents should be printed or photocopied on A4-sized paper.
    • Separate all the application documents for different applicants into individual sets.
    • Submit photocopies of documents as specified in our requirements, submitted documents will NOT be returned.
    • NO staples/pins/paper clips should be used on documents.

     

    • Visa application form. The completed Japanese visa application form must be printed and signed by hand (blue ink). Refer to the Japanese visa application guide on how to complete the form in accordance with the requirements of the Embassy of Japan.
    • Photograph. 1 recent passport-size colour photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) on a white background – can be arranged in our office. The top must have sleeves, no white tops allowed.
    • Passport. The original passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining after the intended visa expires and at least 2 blank pages for visa stamps.
    • A copy of Singapore Residence Permit. For EP, PR, DP and S-Pass holders, you must provide a printout of the validity and expiry status (scanned within last 5 days) which can be obtained with a free SGWorkPass app (available on App Store and Google Play) if your employment pass have a QR Code instead of an expiry date. For PR holders, Re-entry Permit is required. Refer to the SG Workpass guide.
    • Copy of inbound and outbound tickets to Japan (that includes the airline 6-letter booking reference) showing that the applicant is departing from and terminating in Singapore. If you are applying for a double-entry visa, you will need to submit a copy of the flight itinerary showing 2 round-trip trips to Japan within the next 6 months.
    • Employment letter. An employment letter from the applicant’s employer in Singapore issued within the last 1 month from the date of submission. Refer to the example of a school/company letter OR a Singapore Business Profile from ACRA issued within the last 3 months.
    • Letter of invitation. A letter of invitation from Japan (issued within recent 1 month).
    • Letter of guarantee. If the inviter guarantees the expense for the trip, a letter of guarantee from Japan.
    • If the inviter or local company does not guarantee the expense for the trip, bank statements showing the transactions for the last 2 months with all pages included (the minimum balance required for a visa application is 3,000 SGD) OR an official tax bill issued by IRAS (Notice of Assessment).
    • For the multiple-entry visa:
      • Company letter or Invitation letter must state that they are requesting for a multiple-entry business visa
      • For China and Russia passport holders, a multiple-entry request form.
      • An official tax bill issued by IRAS (Notice of Assessment)
    • A daily itinerary in Japan. Please, refer to the Japanese itinerary example on how to complete the form in accordance with requirements of the Embassy of Japan.
    • Indemnity form.
    • 2 x Power of Attorneys. Please, write down the applicant’s name, date and sign. Leave the Representative Name and IC blank.
    • 2 x authorisation letters.
    • Global Singapore visa order form. Completed and signed Global Singapore visa order form.

    • Russian passport holders and individuals holding passports from CIS countries are required to submit two completed application forms along with two photographs.

      Processing time for a business visa to Japan

      • Typically, visa processing takes approximately 7-8 working days after the submission of documents to the Consulate. However, in some cases where referral to a government office is necessary, the processing time may extend up to 1 or 2 months. Hence, we recommend planning your trip well in in advance.

      • Urgent or express service is not available with the Consulate of Japan.
