• Tourist visa to Japan for FDW

    A tourist visa to Japan is granted for a domestic helper holding a valid Singapore work permit accompanying her employer to Japan, for example, for taking care of her employer’s child(ren) during the trip or to assist elderly member(s) of the employer’s family. Domestic helpers intending to travel without their employers will not be eligible to apply for a visa in Singapore.

    A tourist visa can be issued as a single or double-entry visa.

    We can only accept applications from travellers whose departure date is at least 35 days (5 weeks) from the date of submission.

    Checking of Documents: $38:

    Completion of Forms: $38:

    Booking of Appointment: $28:

    Securing the earliest possible appointment at the Japan Visa Application Centre can be a challenge due to high demand and limited availability. Our team works diligently to monitor the VFS website in real time, ensuring that we book the earliest available slot for your submission. By leveraging our expertise and dedicated staff, we maximize your chances of securing a timely appointment, helping to speed up the entire visa application process.

From document verification to ensuring your submission is complete, we provide the reassurance and support you need, offering peace of mind throughout the entire process.

    Required documents for a tourist FDW visa to Japan

    • Arrange your documents in the order according to the checklist.
    • All documents should be printed or photocopied on A4-sized paper.
    • Separate all the application documents for different applicants into individual sets.
    • Submit photocopies of documents as specified in our requirements, submitted documents will NOT be returned.
    • NO staples/pins/paper clips should be used on documents.

    Documents required from a domestic helper

    • Visa application form. The completed Japanese visa application form must be printed and signed by hand (blue ink). Refer to the Japanese visa application guide on how to complete the form in accordance with the requirements of the Embassy of Japan.
    • Photograph. 1 recent passport-size colour photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) on a white background – can be arranged in our office. The top must have sleeves, no white tops allowed.
    • Passport. The original passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining after the intended visa expires and at least 2 blank pages for visa stamps.
    • Copy of a work-pass. For a new employment pass with a QR code instead of an expiry date, you must provide a printout of the validity and expiry status (scanned within last 5 days) which can be obtained with a free SGWorkPass app (available on App Store and Google Play). The printout must be scanned within last 5 days, and the access date must be visible at both the top and bottom of the document.
    • Copy of inbound and outbound tickets to Japan (that includes the airline 6-letter booking reference) showing that the applicant is departing from and terminating in Singapore. If you are applying for a double-entry visa, you will need to submit a copy of the flight itinerary showing 2 round-trip trips to Japan within the next 6 months.
    • Printscreen from the helper’s SingPass app showing her employment status with the name of their employer.
    • 2 x Power of Attorneys. Please, write down the applicant’s name, date and sign. Leave the Representative Name and IC blank.
    • 2 x authorisation letters.
    • Global Singapore visa order form. Completed and signed Global Singapore visa order form.

    Documents required from the employer

    • Passport copy.
    • Copy of the Singapore Residence permit. For a new employment pass with a QR code instead of an expiry date, you must provide a printout of the validity and expiry status (scanned within last 5 days) which can be obtained with a free SGWorkPass app (available on App Store and Google Play).
    • Letter of explanation. The letter should clearly explain why the domestic helper needs to accompany the employer on the trip. Additionally, depending on the reason for the helper’s presence, please submit the following documents as proof of the relationship:
      • Childcare duties: for children up to 12 years old, include a photocopy of the birth certificate(s) for each travelling child
      • Assisting elderly parents: If the helper is assisting parents above the age of 65, a photocopy of the employer’s birth certificate is required
    • A supporting letter from the applicant’s employer in Singapore. Refer to the example of a company letter.
    • Bank statements showing the transactions for the last 2 months. The bank statements must have all pages included. The minimum amount required for a visa application is 3,000 SGD. OR a certificate of income or tax payment issued by IRAS (Notice of Assessment).
    • Tickets. Copy of an inbound and outbound tickets to Japan for all travellers (that include the the airline 6-letter booking reference) showing that the applicants are departing from and terminating in Singapore.
    • If applicable, a copy of valid Japanese visa for all travellers.
    • A daily itinerary in Japan. Please, refer to the Japanese itinerary example on how to complete the form in accordance with requirements of the Embassy of Japan.
    • Guarantee letter for domestic helper.
    • Printed out document checklist. Please, print a copy of the Document Checklist and ensure all documents are prepared according to the requirements provided by the Japan Embassy in Singapore.

      Processing time for a tourist FDW visa to Japan

      • Typically, visa processing takes approximately 7-8 working days after the submission of documents to the Consulate. However, in some cases where referral to a government office is necessary, the processing time may extend up to 1 or 2 months. Hence, we recommend planning your trip well in in advance.

      • Urgent or express service is not available with the Consulate of Japan.
