    • Transfer of a visa to Japan

    If an applicant has a valid visa to Japan in their old passport, with the remaining validity of more than 1 year, they can arrange a transfer of a visa to Japan to their new passport.

    Processing time update

    Due to delays in processing at the Japanese Embassy, we can only accept applications if your travel date is at least 4 weeks from your appointment date. Please ensure that you will be able to leave your passport with us for about 1 month during processing.

    Required documents for a transfer a visa to Japan:

    • Passport. Original passport with at least 6 months’ validity beyond the validity of the visa and with two empty pages for stamping the visa.
    • Old passport. Original old passport with the applied visa.
    • Copy of a Residence permit for EP, PR, DP and S-Pass holders or a copy of a landing card for short-term visitors (less than 90 days) to Singapore or Re-entry Permit for PR holders. For a new employment pass with a QR code instead of an expiry date, you must provide a printout of the validity and expiry status which can be obtained with a free SGWorkPass app (available on App Store and Google Play). The printout must show the access date at the top and the bottom.
    • Visa transfer form. Completed Visa transfer form. The form must be signed by hand (wet signature in blue ink).
    • Photograph. 1 recent passport-size colour photograph on a white background – can be arranged in our office. You cannot wear a white top; the top must have sleeves.
    • 2 x authorisation letters.
    • Global Singapore visa order form. Completed and signed Global Singapore visa order form.

    • Should you require to print any of the required documents in our office, please note that an additional charge will be applied.

    Fees for a transfer a visa to Japan:

    • The consulate fee of the Japanese Consulate is free of charge;
    • Our processing fee is 98 SGD.

    Processing time for a tourist visa to Japan

    • Typically, visa processing takes approximately 5-6 working days after the submission of documents to the Consulate. However, in some cases where referral to a government office is necessary, the processing time may extend up to 1 or 2 months. Hence, we recommend planning your trip well in in advance.

    • Urgent or express service is not available with the Consulate of Japan.
